Playmorning is a parent participation play group held Monday through Friday at various military community centers, parks and at our branch for moms, dads, and children from birth to 5 years old. There is a Program Fee of $2 per child per visit or a maximum charge of $4 per family per visit. The ASYMCA AMR Branch offers multiple Playmorning sessions at various sites to include ASYMCA AMR, Hickam Comm. Ctr, Ford Island Playground, Ft. Shafter Aloha Ctr., Moanalua Comm. Ctr., & Pearl City Penninsula Comm. Ctr.
AMR's Children's Waiting Room offers on site childcare for well children while their parents or siblings have medical appointments at Tripler Army Medical Center. The Children's Waiting Room is open Monday through Friday from 8:00-12:30 and 1:00-3:30. The program is free, however, the ASYMCA depends on donations to keep the program going. For new or expectant moms, AMR's Welcome Baby home visitor is available to answer questions and concerns about giving birth, infant development, community resources, and much more. The home visitor is available to come to your home or visit with you in the AMR office.
The ASYMCA AMR, in conjunction with the Hawaii Foodbank, provides foood for families who are in severe need of assistance due to unforseen circumstances. An innovative program, Music and Movement gives young children the opportunity to learn about the world around them by using pretend play, singing, dancing, and other various musical concepts. Class is held every Thursday at the AMR Community Center, Multi-purpose Room #2 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for children from age 2 to 4 years old and their parent. There is a Program Fee of $4 per visit.
CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION
We offer classes for anyone preparing for a birth, new parents, as well as those with any type of previous birth experience. Learn relaxation, safety, labor companionship, comfort measures, options for birth planning, post-partum wellness, and breast feeding. We offer a 4-week class every Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. for $80 per couple. We also offer a 12-week Bradley Method Class every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. for $300 per couple.
